Cato was born and raised in Southern Illinois, 15 minutes south of St. Louis Missouri. Growing up, he spent a majority of time in the STL area, becoming actively involved in the hip-hop community. At the age of 14, Cato starting writing hip-hop music. By the time he was 17, he began recording music.
Following high school, "Mr. Whyte Hype" attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, where he majored in Audio Production and Sound Engineering. Upon Entering college, Cato started producing and releasing solo hip-hop albums, while simultaneously recording and releasing other solo artists' albums and mixtapes. To date Cato has released four solo hip-hop albums, two mixtapes, and is now working on his 5th solo release titled "WTF."
Cato's accolades include best music mix production for the College of Mass Communication in 2006 and Top 3 Finalist in the best music mix production in 2005. In 2004, and again in 2005, Cato was featured on CIL-FM 101.5's "Shag It" or "Bag It" promotion of the radio show where his single "All My People" beat out R. Kelly's "Come to my Hotel" and J-Kwon's "Tipsy" for top honors before being retired after 5 consecutive wins. The following year, his single "Like a Dawg," featuring BZ, a tribute to the Southern Illinois Men's Basketball Team, was also released during the show. The song garnered much attention throughout the city. "Like a Dawg" was placed on the SIU website were it was downloaded over 1,000 times in the first day alone and received over 1000 requests at the CIL-CM 101.5 radio station. Following this success, he was asked to perform the song live at the SIU vs. Wichita State basketball game in front of over 12,000 people. He was also featured on the cover of the Southern Illinoisian newspaper, along with BZ, and Channel 12 news for the basketball performance.
Throughout the past 10 years of his life in hip-hop, Cato has performed over 60 live events. He has done performances in St. Louis, Carbondale, Clearwater, Orlando, Saint Petersburg, and Tampa, before relocating to Seattle, where he has done shows at the Jewel Box Theater, The Mix in Georgetown, El Corazon, Studio 7, and High Dive.
Cato has only begun making his mark in hip-hop and has been developing as an artist, performer, and entertainer over the last few years making major strides in the music industry. He is young, enthusiastic, original, and willing to do anything it takes to entertain people.
Cato is also willing to relocate for music purposes.
